Dr. Shereen Atef MD, DABCC
Consultant Clinical Pathologist & Acting Head of Clinical Chemistry
Dr. Shereen Atef is an American board-certified Clinical Biochemist with more than 25 years’ experience in the field of laboratory medicine. In addition to her role at National Reference Laboratory (NRL), she currently also serves as Adjunct Faculty at the College of Medicine and Health Science, Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi and General Secretary for Emirates Clinical Chemistry Society (ECCS).
Dr. Shereen has held senior positions in the laboratories for leading hospitals and medical centers in the UAE. Prior to joining NRL she was the Laboratory Director at Harley Medical Centre, Abu Dhabi.
After completing her Doctorate in Clinical Pathology at Ain Shams University, Egypt in 2004, Dr. Shereen was assigned as a Professor at university’s Faculty of Medicine. In 2015, Dr. Shereen successfully passed the Certificate Course in Laboratory Quality Management by the University of British Columbia, Canada.
She is an accomplished author having written two books and 60 regional and international publications. Dr. Shereen is also engaged as a peer reviewer for medical journals including Arab Journal of Gastroenterology and the Journal of US-China Medical Science.
