Dr Manuel Wide Min

Dr. Manuel Algora MD

Director of Transfusion Medicine

Dr. Manuel Algora specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of blood-related disorders. His expertise include; transfusion, identification of unexpected alloantibodies, safe blood programs, rational uses of blood and blood products, as well as clinical care of patients with anemia, low platelet levels, hemostatic disorders, and other coagulation problems.  

Dr. Manuel received his medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine of Universidad Autonoma in Madrid, Spain. He completed his residency in Hematology and Hemotherapy at the Hospital Universitario Puerta de Hierro, Madrid.  

Prior to joining National Reference Laboratory, Dr Manuel worked as a Consultant in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in Cleveland Clinic since 2014. Before moving to Abu Dhabi, Dr. Manuel worked as a Consultant in Transfusion Medicine and Hematology, at Hospital Quirón San José and Hospital Quirón San Camilo, in Madrid, Spain. He was also Head of Department at the Madrid Blood Transfusion Center, where he oversaw blood separation, storage, transport, apheresis, and quality of components.   

Other career highlights include a posting as Clinical Professor of Pathology at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine, at Case Western Reserve University, Ohio, USA  and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Pathology at College of Medicine and Health Sciences at Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi, UAE.  

He has been published in multiple medical journals and has participated in numerous courses, seminars and congresses worldwide.
