This test is used to measure the level of vasoactive intestinal polypeptide (VIP) in plasma.

Biotin supplementation may interfere with this test. Patients taking high-dose biotin (Vitamin B7) should discontinue use at least 72 hours before sample collection.
Separate plasma and transfer specimen to a plastic transport tube before freezing. To avoid delays in turnaround time when requesting multiple tests on frozen samples, please submit separate frozen specimens for each test requested.
