This panel contains TPO and Tg-Ab.
Thyroid autoantibody tests (thyroglobulin antibodies (Tg-Ab) and Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies (TPO)) are primarily used to diagnose and manage autoimmune thyroid diseases.
Tg-Ab are used alongside serum thyroglobulin (Tg) when managing differentiated thyroid cancer; the presence of Tg-Ab can affect Tg measurements, checking TgAb helps validate whether a negative or low Tg reading is genuinely low.
TPO are used primarily to diagnose Hashimoto's thyroiditis and identifying an autoimmune cause of hypothyroidism.
