No special preparation is required for this test. You may eat, drink, and take your medications as normal, unless instructed otherwise by your healthcare provider.
As quickly as possible after collection of CSF, add 1 mL CSFto chilled collection tube containing 2 mL 8% (W/V) per- chloric acid. Collection tubes are available through NRL. Mix well for 30 seconds and place in an ice bath for 10 minutes. Centrifuge for 10 minutes at 1500 x g. Decant supernatant into a transport tube and freeze
