Serum or Plasma

Red-top tube or green-top (heparin) tube.
No special preparation is required for this test. You may eat, drink, and take your medications as normal, unless instructed otherwise by your healthcare provider.
Do not use a gel-barrier tube. Submission/transport (<3 days): Room temperature. For storage beyond three days, specimen should be refrigerated or frozen. Transfer separated serum or plasma to a plastic transport tube. Trough levels are most reproducible.
