Test Overview

Cystatin C is a reliable biomarker of glomerular filtration rate (GFR) used to assess kidney function. Because it is produced steadily by all nucleated cells, its levels are independent of muscle mass, diet, or age, making it an excellent alternative or complement to creatinine.

Note: an eGFR is NOT reported with this order.
