Test Overview

Crypto/Giardia test is a rapid immunoassay for the qualitative detection of
Cryptosporidium parvum and Giardia lamblia specific antigens in aqueous extracts of human fecal
specimens. It is intended for in vitro diagnostic use as an aid in the detection of suspected Cryptosporidium
or Giardia infections.

Specimen Type

Stool samples in clean, leak-proof plastic containers. OR samples collected in SAF, 10% formalin, MIF, Cary-Blair, C&S, or Stuart’s transport media are the preferred
media for specimen collection and transport.

Volume

1 g or 1 mL

Specimen Container

Sterile,leak proof container

Patient Preparation

No special preparation is required for this test. You may eat, drink, and take your medications as normal, unless instructed otherwise by your healthcare provider.
