The Basic Metabolic Panel (BMP) measures key biomarkers to evaluate kidney and liver function, electrolyte and fluid balance, bone health and (random) blood sugar levels. It is widely used to screen for underlying conditions, diagnose symptoms, and monitor medication side effects or disease progression.
Results will be reported in SI units (moles/vol e.g. mmol/L).

Serum (SST; Gold Top or plain serum; Red Top) - Preferred Lithium Heparin Plasma (Green Top) - acceptable
No special preparation is required for this test. You may eat, drink, and take your medications as normal, unless instructed otherwise by your healthcare provider.
