Used to diagnose bullous pemphigoid, an autoimmune blistering skin disease. These antibodies target proteins in the skin’s basement membrane, leading to skin blistering. A positive result indicates an autoimmune response affecting skin integrity.
Serum
2 mL
Gel-barrier tube, red-top tube or Serum transfer tube
No special preparation is required for this test. You may eat, drink, and take your medications as normal, unless instructed otherwise by your healthcare provider.
If a tube other than a gel-barrier is used, transfer separated serum to a labelled plastic transport tube. Do not freeze gel-barrier tubes (pour off serum first).
