Multiple Time-Point Aldosterone Test

TAT

Methodology

Chemiluminescent Immunoassay (CLIA)

Performing Location

Accredited NRL Laboratory

Testing Frequency

Wednesday and Friday

Test Overview

Aldosterone measured in three timed samples (e.g., morning supine, after upright posture, and possibly after saline or another stimulus). Multiple measurements assess aldosterone dynamics and can improve diagnostic auracy for hyperaldosteronism by capturing how aldosterone responds to posture or volume changes (e.g., lack of normal suppression or stimulation in primary aldosteronism).

Specimen Type

Serum

Volume

0.5 mL per tube

Specimen Container

Red top tube or Gel barrier tube

Patient Preparation

No special preparation is required for this test. You may eat, drink, and take your medications as normal, unless instructed otherwise by your healthcare provider.
