Eight serial measurements of aldosterone – an exhaustive evaluation. Such a test might capture aldosterone every few hours over 24 hours or under a variety of stimuli/inhibitors. A consistently elevated aldosterone across all eight points would strongly indicate autonomous secretion (as seen in primary hyperaldosteronism), whereas normal subjects would show variation and appropriate suppression at times.

0.5 mL per tube
Red top tube or Gel barrier tube
No special preparation is required for this test. You may eat, drink, and take your medications as normal, unless instructed otherwise by your healthcare provider.
This test does not require any special collection or pre-analytical handling. Follow routine specimen collection protocols.
