Cause for Rejection: Nonserum or non-EDTA plasma specimen received. Room Temperature and Refrigerate specimen. To avoid delays in turnaround time when requesting multiple tests on frozen samples, please submit separate frozen specimens for each test requested.

Measures levels of 17-hydroxypregnenolone, a steroid hormone precursor in adrenal and gonadal pathways. Useful in diagnosing congenital adrenal hyperplasia and other disorders of steroid biosynthesis, particularly 3β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase deficiency.
