Dr. Mubarak Alfarsi MBBS
Head of Microbiology
Dr. Mubarak Alfarsi has nearly 25 years of specialist experience in Microbiology. Prior to joining National Reference Laboratory, he worked as a Consultant Microbiologist at Global Medical Solutions Hospital Management (Zayed Military Hospital), Abu Dhabi. Prior to that, he was the Head of the Microbiology Department at Sheikh Khalifa General Hospital, Umm Al Quwain.
Dr. Mubarak earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the United Arab Emirates University, Abu Dhabi. He then went on to pursue specialized training in Medical Microbiology at the University of Bonn, Germany. Following the successful completion of his training, Dr. Mubarak received certification as a Medical Specialist in Microbiology and Infectious Disease Epidemiology from the General Medical Council of the North-Rhine. He was also granted a Fellowship in the Specialty of Microbiology by The European Board of Medical Biopathology.
Additionally, Dr. Alfarsi is a prolific author with over 40 peer-reviewed publications to his name. Further to that, he also plays an active role in numerous scientific national committees, including the UAE Higher Committee for Antimicrobial Resistance and serving as the WHO Resistance Surveillance System (GLASS) UAE Focal Point.
