Dr. Hemad Yasaei PhD
Head of Molecular Genomics
With over 15 years of experience in the field of molecular genetics and genomics, Dr. Hemad brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to National Reference Laboratory (NRL). He is responsible for overseeing and developing NRL’s molecular genomics department and test offering. Prior to joining NRL, Dr. Hemad was the Head of Genomics Unit at Dubai Health Authority’s Dubai Genetics Center. The center implemented NGS-based diagnostic services across a range of therapeutic areas including: whole exome sequencing; NIPT (13, 18 and 21); BRCA1/2 screening; population-based genome sequencing; panel-based sequencing for solid and hematological cancer.
Dr. Hemad obtained his PhD in Cancer Genetics and BSc (Hons) in Medical Genetics at Brunel University London, UK. Before moving to the United Arab Emirates in 2016, he worked on a number of research projects as a Post-Doctoral Fellow and Senior Research Associate at Brunel University London and the University of Bristol, UK.
He has also contributed to numerous articles and research papers for leading scientific journals on the topic of genomics and regularly speaks at both international and regional conferences.
