Dr. Stan has more than 30 years of experience in diagnostic neuropathology.
Dr. Stan has obtained a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Hamburg, Germany, in 1989. He has been awarded as Facharzt für Neuropathologie (Specialist in Neuropathology) by the Ärztekammer Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony), Germany, in 1998. Dr. Stan has obtained a Ph.D. and the venia legendi (authorisation to read) from the Hanover Medical School, Germany, in 1999. He has been awarded as Associate Professor of Neuropathology by the Hanover Medical School, Germany, in 2002.
Prior to joining National Reference Laboratory (NRL), Dr. Stan worked as Consultant Neuropathologist and Specialty Lead in the Department of Pathology, The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and The Royal Hospital for Children (QEUH & RHC), Glasgow, United Kingdom.
Scope of Practice
Dr. Stan’s scope of practice includes diagnostic neuropathology, which comprises histopathology, cytology (cerebrospinal fluid), immunochemistry and molecular diagnostics.
Field of Expertise
Dr. Stan’s field of expertise includes histopathological reporting, clinical research, quality assurance and control, electron microscopy (TEM and SEM), laser capture microdissection, video imaging and morphometry, cell and tissue culture, study design and animal welfare, microsurgery and transplantation.
